POINT has been nominated to have the opportunity to raise money for our healthy living project. We are looking for as many donations as possible, and everything we raise, The Big Give will match us as part of their Christmas Challenge campaign, which includes our 25p meals and the growing of our own produce. The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s largest online match funding campaign. It offers participating charities the opportunity to double their donations.
We are asking the community for help to gain as many online donations as possible, so that we have the opportunity for these donations to be doubled. The Christmas Challenge 2016 opens at 12pm on 29thNovember and closes 72 hours later at 12pm on Friday 2nd December. Donations must be made online and can only be made within the 72 hours.
To make a donation please visit www.thebiggive.org.uk between 12pm on Tuesday 29th November and 12pm on Friday 2nd December. Follow these steps to donate:
- Go onto The Big Give website and search ‘Fishguard and Goodwick Young Person Trust LTD’
- Choose either Projects or Charities (Doesn’t matter which one)
- Then donate

Point was opened in 2001 by Fishguard & Goodwick Young Persons Trust Ltd with the aim:
” To provide opportunities for young people aged 11 to 25 years living in North Pembrokeshire to acquire the confidence, self esteem and skills to overcome the obstacles they may encounter on their journey from childhood to adulthood. Whilst also encouraging them to explore their interests and play an active role within their community “
Point is based at the Popworks Youth Centre in Fishguard and is open 6 days a week, 50 weeks of the year, offering a great range of activities including
- sports and recreation- from football to surfing and landboarding
- training and skills development
- cooking and healthy eating
- personal development and challenges such as Duke of Edinburgh
As an independent registered charity we rely on the support of the local community, funding bodies, partner organisations and the town and county councils. Our work is currently funded by the Big Lottery Fund along with Children in Need, The Garfield Weston Foundation, Pembrokeshire County Council and other local funds and donations.
