POINT have been delivering Youth Mental Health First Aid training online since the start of 2021.
We have now trained more than 80 youth workers, staff & volunteers from various organisations as well as parents/carers & members of the community.
The training is certificated and licensed via Mental Health First Aid Wales and provides adults with tools to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or are in a mental health crisis.
Mental illnesses often start in adolescence or early adulthood, it is important to detect problems early to ensure a young person is properly treated and supported. The YMHFA training offered by POINT is supported by trained instructors with many years of experience in supporting young people themselves. Learners are also able to bring their own experiences to the training and learn from each other.
POINT are pleased to be developing this training so that later in the Summer of 2022 they will be able to bring ‘in person’ & fully accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid to an accessible North Pembrokeshire venue!
