This project gave young people and community members an experience like no other. It involved many opportunities to help create a film whilst working closely with people from different generations.
The inter-generational film, directed and produced by the local company Breaking Waves Pictures, is a creative and inspiring inter-generational collaboration between the people of The St Nicholas Community and youth organisation POINT (Fishguard & Goodwick Young Persons Trust Ltd). ‘St Nicholas: Then & Now’ began when St Nicholas Church had received funding from the Heritage Lottery to engage local young people to story tell their community’s history.
The film incorporates the fascinating and raw history of the St Nicholas community whilst embracing a rich (and perhaps otherwise missed) mutually beneficial interaction between the older members of the community and the young people.
Your help will allow us to continue to do the wonderful work that our qualified youth workers have been doing for all these years.
The young volunteers gain Food Hygiene and Barista certificates and experience for use on their CV’s which will then help them on the road towards gaining employment.
Helping young people to increase their employability, life skills and sense of belonging within the community.
